Default milling a sohc. does it raise hp?

has any body done this to there sohc head , and did u fill a diff?

i can only imagine it would, not sure how much, but raising the displacement only if its a small amount will give you some gains... not sure if the moneyutcome ratio will be in your favor...

google zealautoworks for that handy dandy calculator. If you already have the head off getting it milled is only 30 or 40 bucks and you will pick up a few ponies. You cna't mill it too much of course because of the valves of course.

Milling the head is not a good way to try to raise compression. If you need to mill it so it is flat and true then ok but not just to try and get 2 more hp from it.

Well i no that for every point of compressin you gain its somethin like a 4% hp gain. I was goin to do this but the ol wallet changed my mind, kinda tight up on money

I milled the head on my z6 and i noticed a bit of power increase but be sure to check youre iacv and pcv valves before you put it back together cuz mine has some serious blowby issues that need to be worked out

Right, but it's more like a 2-3% increase. The percentage drops once you surpass a certain compression ratio (14:1 I think?).
