milling head on a singlecam
ok well to start off im not new at this ive milled a ton heads. i work in a machine shop and i build all my own motors and just about all the fast hondas around here i either built or had a hand in. the machine shop that i work in isnt a engine machine shop but im really good friends with the owner and i basically run the place so he lets me use the machines when ever i want. i also do a lot of porting but anyway. most d series/sohc heads i mill between .030"-.040" depending on what the person wants. now my brother has a y7 and till he gets his motor he wants to mill his head and do some mild porting and while the head is apart we are gonna redo the valves well lap them and put new valve seals in. what i wanna know is how much is the max i can mill his head. i know you can go more on b series but how much can i take off on this y7 head. i know we are gonna need a adjustable timing gear like i said ive done this a million times. any info will be appreciated. . .thanks

You would have better responses in the tech forum. Sure alot of people in here but not alot of them do machine work. I dont know exact numbers but as long as you have a good distance from the little markers (the round dimples) your ok. But the closer you get to that dimple the tricker the timingbelt and headgasket will be.
