Default to mill or not to mill?

I am 99% sure I blew the headgasket on my d16z6. Smoke or vapor is coming from directly behind the header. When I blew it however I had only been driving about 30 seconds, reved through one gear and blew it.

I am wonedring if the head could get hot enough to warp in under a minute, and only about 3-4 seconds of hard driving.

I also found no coolant in my oil, my timing is set perfect.

Also any advice on replacing the head gasket. I figure take the header, intake manifold and valve cover off, undo the headstuds pull the head, replace gasket and put everything back. Missing anything?

Also if your boosting i would mill the head a little. But from what you said i dont think you warped it, because it takes alot to warp a head.

I would say no to milling the head. Timing belt issues and you cant replace the metal you have removed. Find a thinner head gasket.

If u do pull the head, use a level at a lot of different angles on the underside of the head and measure between the level and the head w/ a feeler gauge startng at .0010 to see if its warped. Thats what i did when i snapped an intake camshaft and bent a couple valves. That way i knew how much to tell the machine shop to take off of the head to make it level...
