Default Mid-swap crisis

Okay i dropped my motor in today and i made sure all the mounts were on correctley and my hood wont shut, the motor is sitting too high to shut the hood. Its a b16 swap from hmotors with the hasport mounts made for a 94 del sol, or thats what i ordered they came in a box that says 92 civic. So are the mounts the same for a 94 sol and a 92 civic or did they send me the wrong ****? and is that the only possible reason for my motor to be sitting so high?

The mounts for the Del Sol and the Civic are the same.

This is a relatively common problem with swaps.

Depending on how high it is you might be able to get away with ripping off the skeleton on the bottom of the hood.

You can also shim your mounts. Adding 2 washers between the motor mount bracket, and the hasport mount. Do that on the tranny side also. That should move the motor down slightly.

Good ideas to fix it.. but it shouldnt be that high. Why would it be? I've never seen a B series swap with hood clearance issues. Something must be wrong or your CF hood is misshapen.

i dont know.

im confused too, this is my first swap and i just keep running into little problems like this and its killing my confidence.

i figured it was the mounts making it sit so high. But they are hasports made for the swap. i just dont get it.

it's got to be the hood, try raising the little bushings in the front that adjust where the hood sits.

Or do the washer trick with the mounts. This isn't a big deal at all, don't let it get you down

Could also try shimming the hood up a few washers.

do the washer trick on the mounts....problem solved. It's the easiest way. Shimming hoods looks ghetto IMO.

haha yes. 93 del sol and civic is the only set of motor mounts that wont accomidate a b-series swap. 94 they stared with the integra style mounts, so you dont need aftermarket ones. even with a 93, the only mounts you need are the L-bracket, and the rear motor mount.

OP: I would shim the hood first. Get some washers and place them between the hood and the mounting bracket for the hood. Should fix the problem.

Yes, you use the B-series brackets and the D-series mounts

Don't do anything stupid, just get some help with taking a little notch out of the bottom of the hood where it is precisely touching, no need to rip the hood a new *******..

..remember, a notch.

if it's that close to the hood... ur cf hood is gonna get some nasty heat marks. if it doesn't melt first..
