Mid Engine B16 Cable Shift
So I am putting together a Mid engine open wheel drive car and i have now a B16 and b20 to work with for the design. What i am wondering is if any of you guys have seen a setup where the transmission shift linkages have been swapped for shift cables like on the k series transmissions?
Because the engine will be in the same orientation (intake at the very rear of the car), but behind the driver seat, so I would need to put the links under the engine then back up to the transmission. This has its obvious issues of welding additional steel in to make the "U" turn but it also raises the center of gravity another 2" up.
Any thoughts? Any other cable shift style transmissions fit up to the b16?
something like this

Thanks!

Re: Mid Engine B16 Cable Shift
But don't those transmissions have really bad gear ratios for a 2wd car? Can the internals be swapped between the two?
Any changes from the 4wd to 2wd that I need to take into account or is it a direct bolt on with no mods required?

No, internally the B20 trans is much closer to an H/F-series trans than B-series.
Yes, you'll need to fab up a couple of mounts most likely, but it's still a lot easier and cheaper than making an adapter plate to run an H/F tranny.
