BTW:
Boost - contact Cometic and/or do a search here on H-T in the Forced Induction Forum and type in keyword "cometic."
N/A - O.E honda is just fine, or if you want a thinner one try Mugen or Spoon.
Again the seach function might help around here.

Because they pinch the tops of the cylinders and create hotspots.
Look at any high horsepower boosted build - they will be sleeved, not some shitty block guard.
The only way a block guard is worth a **** is if you install it and THEN get it bored AFTER so that the bore isn't toghter at the tops of the cylinders.
Even still a block guard is only a ghetto cheapy wannabe closed deck design.

When you guys are talking about block guards, are you referring to block girdles? same thing or different?</TD></TR></TABLE>
No.
Block girdle is a device that connects the main caps in the very bottom of a block.
Block girdles are found on stock B18C1 and B18C5 engines. they promote strength and are bad-***.
Block guards are those little ***** that you push into the open deck at the top of the cylinders. They are supposed to help strengthen the tops of the cylinders by keeping the floating cylinders from moving, but they are **** IMO.
The only way to truly do a closed deck design is to have a block sleeved with the likes of a Darton T Sleeve or AEBS, etc.

Sleeving is safe depending on what type of sleeves. If he's having sleeves with an open deck design and adding a block guard, I say **** that.
The only way I'd sleeve a block is what I just posted above - closed deck designed specifically for turbo.

do have to sleeve the block to have a block guard?
do you have to have machine work done to the block to have it sleeved?

from what i understand, u have to bore out the block and install sleeves. i could be wrong. also hondas, for the most part, are open deck, so u could just install a block guard. thats my understanding i could be wrong
