i switched to 10w40 full synthetic. it makes sense. high mileage engines have bearing wear, and a thicker oil will allow the oil to stay inside those bearings without spilling out thus (losing pressure and flow to the top of the engine)

Are you burning oil?

I would say high mileage oil is fine, semi sythenthic some are, but regular high mileage oil is fine, 10w 40 is good if you are burning, if not 5w 30 is fine.

No. 5W30 with 220k here, with No issues.

Use the oil that car was meant to have in it!!

that depends on a lot of factors the engine isn't the same as it was when it was new with brand new clearances

I am well aware of that.

I have tried high milage oil MANY times in the past, in my opinon it's NOT worth it.

im not sure if th high milage is really worth it and switching to syn isnt always good for the gaskets on a high mile motor either

My dad has used high mileage since I would say around 06ish. And there has not been any issues...but every Honda is different. It all depends on how the car is taken care of and maintained.

Go to www.bobistheoilguy.com The short answer is stick with 5w30 regular or synthetic. Penzoil is the best for the $.

I was talking about a little heavier oil instead of 5w-30 these older ones don't seem to always like the synthetic well

Do not run 10W40 unless you want stuck oil rings and an oil consumption problem.

Use this **** and change it every 3-5000 miles, whenever you feel like it. Cheapest oil filter every other change.

Walmart...

Oh, and my 17 year old D16Z6 DOES NOT burn any oil, regardless of which I use. 3.5 quarts in > 3.5 quarts out...

If the engine is not smoking ,ticking ,leaking , or burning oil then it is best to stick with the factory spec oil for the stock d16z6 5/30 if it starts drinking it then switch to somthing thicker as for the Walmart oil I haven't researched it but I personally wouldn't put that in my lawn mower you don't have to buy the high dollar stuff for a civic it's not a ferarri but stick to a decent quality oil and filter for piece of mind if nothing eltse not to say that the Walmart stuff is crap oil it may be a re brand of some other stuff like Canadian tires formula 1 synthetic which I found out to be a shell or esso synthetic rebrand if you find the material safety data sheet it should have a company logo and product information on there.
