me and my del sol swap time
whats up guys. I have a 93 del sol s. got it this past summer. it has some issues but i liked it because it was stock. I dont like buying other peoples projects. anyways. started out by addressing the major concerns such as tie rods, axle, fluids, timing belt, valve adjustment, gaskets and such. then I got some new blox suspension and fixed some cosmetic things. so here I am not even10k miles later and its swap time. My d15 burns quite a bit of oil so a new motor is in need. Now for the swap I will be doing a d16y7 block with d16y8 head. Yes it is basic and slow and pointless to do so before everybody knocks on me for this lame swap I will explain that I am doing it because I have the motor complete on an engine stand just sitting there already. I didnt pay for it. I will do all the gaskets and such clean everything paint and powder a few things and throw it in. I researched a bunch but could find little on people doing this minime in a 2nd gen obd1 car so I will need some help as I go.
first question being does anyone know the compression ratio of a d16y7 block with d16y8 head on top. I found all the other ratios with the d15 blocks and others using d16a6 pistons but couldnt find this setup.
heres a couple pics to start feel free to input
still thinking what im gonna do as far as paint for VC. prob wrinkle black

More jealous of that lift I see behind that motor
looks like that motor burst into flames at least once lol
I just googled that question you had and got 9.96:1 compression

thats a really Nice shop
the y8 manifold should plug right up but theirs one or 2 sensors your probably gonna have to lengthen the wire for it.
im not sure but your gonna need the 2wire iacv???
gonna have to run a some wires for the vtec as well

Re: me and my del sol swap time
look at your iacv does it have 3 wire plug to it or 2 wire plug
I have a y8 manual manifold that uses the 2wire iacv on my car
Im *guessing* 3wire because its an S
but you can put a y7 throttle body on the y8 manifold and it has a 3 wire right on the throttle body instead of 2 wire one Manual y8 manifolds have on the back of them or none on the auto manifold

Re: me and my del sol swap time
a little new to tuning so don't hit me too hard for this stupid question guys.. where could i get forged pistons for an engine like this? i tink its the same engine i got in my 93 ex coupe. how could i get more power without going turbo?? i already have cold air intake, and a 4-2-1 header setup.
