me=dumb. y8 block d15b vtec head. help
So buy a used d15b vtec and find some pitting on one of the cylinder walls. It seems complicated/expensive to rebuild the d15b block because of all the random parts (some 1.5 some 1.6 etc. http://www.d-series.org/forums...17840) but I do have a low mile y8 block sitting around. I'm a noob so I need even simple things explained sometimes. So, my questions:
1. What are the complications of mating a y8 block with a d15b vtec head (oiling issues, what gasket, what head studs, what timing belt, etc.)?
2. Are there any complications of using a y8 block in obd1 car (I have a 92 vx)(any wiring conflicting sensors, engine mounts, etc.??
I understand that an aftermarket oil pump is wise for a y8 block.. true? anything else??
I've serched the forums and couln't find much except people that were making insane hp with this combo boosted, but no useful information for me. I've even searched a z6 head on y8 block since they say the d15b vtec head is virtually the same as a z6 and found nothing.
HELP!
