Default MC too small

Okay guys, I haven't been able to pick up my new MC/BB for my JDM ITR 4 lug brake setup.

I bled the brakes the correct way, even doing it twice.

The top about 1/4 of my pedal feels like they're still air in there, and then the pedal feels good.

Anybody think I still have air in the lines or the tiny 13/16th MC just can't move enough fluid to begin with to squeeze the brakes correctly?

i'm no guru, but if you only bled the brakes twice, i'd say go ahead and do it again, and again, and then twice more. maybe i suck at bleeding them, but when i did my gsr brakes, i had to bleed them through a bunch of times. I probably did it 5 times the 1st time, drove the car, and it still felt spongy. so i put the car on stands again and did it aonther 5 times, and after that it felt a lot better. goodluck with it

you may be right about the small bore mc not pushing enough fluid, but it can't really hurt to try bleeding it more.

Thanks for the input. I've been doing it with a vaccum pump and then pumping the brakes, so I'm definatley not letting any more air in them and they're pulling all clear (new) fluid through them. That's why I figured I had all the air out.

Sounds kind of like mine, 7/8's right now, Soft at the top, but bites like a ***** after that.

I'd say that yes, it's just a small MC, once you get the right one, it should feel fine again.

friend just did this swap on his 96 hb. his is super soft at the top. you need to atleast get the 99-00 si mc, or even the ex abs mc for them to work like you want them to work. over the winter i did 00 civic si front and rear brakes. i kept the 13/16 master on there until last week. i put a 00 si mc, it made a huge difference in the pedal travel.

Cool that's what I thought guys. I've got to go pick up the Teg brake booster tomorrow then I can put my 15/16th mc in there.

Antyime you change the brake setup, you need to adjust the freeplay in the brake pedal.

Adjust the pedal so that there is no slop in the pedal...will feel much better

It's not that they're free play in the pedal I think. I can tell I'm pushing on the pedal, just the top bit feels very sloppy. I'll try adjusting it tomorrow though.

its the mc/bb. i was riding around for a week with the 13/16 and when you apply the brakes, the first 1/2 feels spongy, but if you was to slam on the brakes it'll stop on a dime. now i got the 15/16 on and theres no spongy feel at all. just tap it a little and your passenger head will go forward.

btw: im still using the civic's proportional valve.
