Default may have hydrolocked?

I was driving home today and it was pouring down rain. I was going up this really steep hill in 4th gear with the air conditioning on when all of a sudden it felt like I was gonna stall out. So I just thought it was because I was going up a hill with the air conditioning on in 4th gear. So I downshift and give it some gas and I stall out. I managed to crank it back up and roll it into a driveway about 100ft down the road and then cut the car off. I immediately thought I got water in my motor through my cold air intake. I took off my intake pipe and cranked the car up again and noticed that I was idleing very low (about 500rpm). I revved it up some and it would just go back down. I managed to drive the few miles home without any problems. The idle got better at the next stoplight. What do you guys think happened and do you think that I could have damaged my motor?

it is possible to bend a connecting rod without breaking it. do a compression test and if you can pull the pan down, and you may find a bent one.

it is also possible for you to have gotten moisture in the ignition system. if your dist cap is wet inside, then your car will act like that too. if your connection between the spark plug and cable are no good, this is what it will perform like.

Thanks for the responses. I'm hoping it's nothing big. I'll start with the distributor cap since that's easy but it seemed like it was running fine by the time I got home. Anyone else they might know what happened?

check the condition of your standard tune up items. i don't think it is anything. every time i take my car to the car wash, the car stumbles a couple of times before i leave... vented hood...

And you dont really need a CAI. Take out the one end and just use it as a SRI instead. U wont have to worry as much.

I started it up a couple hours ago and everything seemed normal. I put the short ram on and took it for a test drive and it went well. Now I remember why I have a cold air intake...All I could hear was buzzing and whistling from the intake.

yea, my short ram intake with a FOAM filter really lets me hear the TB

If your car is runnin fine, you may have gotten enough water to stall it, but when you cranked it, it all went away. odds are your fine. reset the ECU, drive around for a while, and if it runs normally, consider the car alright. pull your plugs, take off the dizzy cap, and check other places for moisture.

that happened to my last car i drove threw like a river to be cool then my car was like a lawnmower. i thought i shot the valves to **** but turns out my ignition cables were old and the cold water lessened the electrictiy threw them. put new ones and then it ran awesome. buy thick gauged wires and your all set and if you worried about the rain with the cai but a bypass valve on it and youll be all set.
