Default manual Tranny Noise and Problems

I have a 1994 Honda Civic 4 door Its motor has been swapped to a D16Y8 motor and tranny. I have gear fluid that poors out of my tranny pretty bad and It makes a horrible knocking type noise when I press the clutch in It still there but when I put it in gear it stops and if I keep the clutch pressed in and take it out of gear the noise comes back real minor until I let out the clutch then its loud again is that the Input shaft bearing and is that what keeps the gear fluid in too or do I have 2 diffrent problems. The peddle does seem kinda week the clutch is suppose to be fairly new Maybe a year old. I just bought the car. Thank you for your time Also is it easier to take the motor out and do the work or To just drop the tranny?

just drop the tranny and get another one.
bearing and gears are probably bad by now since fluid is leaking.
i see you are from WA. did you go to the honda-tech meet yesterday?

sounds like you have 2 sep problems. The oil leak is more then likely the cv shaft trans seals. The noise could be an isb but as already posted if it is the isb and you are not very mech inclined then replacing the trans would be the easyest and cheepest to do

sorry its late i should have added that to replace the isb you have to remove the trans from the car, crack the case open remove all the internals to get to the isb remove it and replace the isb and the seal since your there. While you have everything torn appart you might as well service the rest of the trans sync, bearings and make sure things are to spec. Could you just replaces the isb yes but there might be other problems. when i rebuilt mine I had a little under 200 in a rebuild kit bearings, seals, sync. and i couldnt resist installing a lsd for another $350

LOL time to look for a low mile D16Y8 Tranny. If I had a shop I wouldnt Mind But being that I dont There is alot of dust in my area. Quik question Ok my car would have came with a 1.5l when they did the swap did they have to change really anything or was it a dirrect tranny and engine bolt in and go deal. I just dont think I would have picked that engine to do a swap with unless it was real easy and money was a factor

If i where you I would look around for a used 92-95 ex/si trans they are coded as an s20-000b They have the shorter gearing and the diff bearings are a lot larger then the s20-000a trans of that gen. You can pick up a good used one for under 250. To put that motor and trans in that car would have been a dir bolt in more then likely it was what they could find and the price was right. oh one other thing any d seires trans will fit any d seires motor so if price and avil is an issue and you need the car running that is something to keep in mind. i picked up an s20-000a at a pick and pull yard for $35 (they were having a sale on trans that week) so i still had a car while I rebuilt the si trans

Thank you for all your help. Is there a better motor and tranny then what they picked that would fit in with out swapping mounts computers wiring harness and Cv shafts? Any Dual Cam Vtec (B18C1 or B16A2). Or am I pretty much stuck with that Motor (SOHC)

AAAH dont say that lol thats my main parts source lol I know what you mean I got a few bunk parts off there. Dont laugh But I Bought this car for 1200 I figure I got the car for the price of the rims and tires. I had a 1994 honda civic with a 1.5 Vtec was built in Canida or somthing I was told I dont know But it was way faster then this car and this one has more mods and dosnt have a ac compressor or power steering pump.
