So I have a 96 ek with a y8 and 5 speed, i have the car for a total of 1 month maybe and the Car gets hit in the back wheel and gets totaled out but it still runs and drive so i buy a auto y7 97 identical to mine, still running and driving just blown head gasket. I hung a pedal, swapped in the y8 and 5 speed along with the engine harness and ecu but no matter what I do the car will not crank (3 days so far). I've crossed the shifter plug wires just like people have said but the car won't prime the fuel pump or turn on all the systems unless I cross the wires to where the dash shows it's in 2nd gear, and the starter won't engage regardless of what I do. Someone help
You connected the BLK/WHT wire to the BLK/RED wire?
Did you connect the GRN/WHT (or BLK/BLU) to the BLK (or chassis ground)?
Are fuse 13, fuse 25, & fuse 31 under the dash good?
When you turn the key ON, do you have battery voltage at the BLK/YEL wire at the distributor plug?
Do any of the gear position indicator lights illuminate?

Sucks...not sure why someone would not want to bolt on a pedal but instead they want to hang it. hey your ride
You should not have to rewire anything to have the ECU boot up and prime the fuel pump when turning the key on. This suggests a main fuse could be blown. Also make sure the ground wires on the thermostat are hooked up. They are easy to forget when swapping the engine.
The starter is simply the black-red wire getting power from the black-white wire when the selector is in P or N. So this can be bypassed by connecting the wires toether. Once this is done and it still doesn't crank, troubleshoot conventionally by making sure the wires have power when you turn the key. Another thing easily forgotten when swapping the engine is the little wire on the starter.
