Default manual ecu question

I have a 99 ej6. I did an auto to manual swap and now I'm throwing some codes from my ecu being an auto. I've tried to look for a manual ecu that will fit but none will. I have a non-vtec engine, and 4 sockets in my original ecu. Most of the manual ecu's I've come across have 3 sockets. Am I ever going to find one that will work? Do all manual ecu's have 3 sockets??

Yes all manual ecu's are 3 sockets the 4th plug you dont use as they are for the auto sensors etc on the auto tranny. If you want change your harness to a manual harness.

its quite possible that the 4th plug on the auto harness is all autotranny wires

I have a manual ecu and tried to hook it up but the car wouldn't start with the fourth plug out. Should it have started?? Did I do something wrong??

if you open up your ecu, you can set the jumper, and tell the ecu that the car is manual or auto.
i have links at home..

Never heard of that before, "set the jumper", but if you got a "how-to" or can give me some steps, I'd appreciate it a lot. Anyone else know how either??

ah damn, you got an OBDII v2 ECU
thought you had like obd1 or so..
the obdII have 4 plugs in the back

Everyone else is thinking about obd1, which i thought too. Which as 3 plug:

On the obd1 ecu, their's a little 20 pin chip that makes it Auto

See if you had that obd1 auto ecu, you can remove that chip, and it will become a manual tranny ecu.

oh yea. if you have an auto/man swap, then u need to do some in car wiring to fool the manual ECU. u need to wire or jump the clutch safety switch, and a bunch of other stuff

for some reason it doesn't work, maybe I wasn't sold a 99-00 dx ecu

first you are saying that's what you did, then you're saying you're just going to buy one, and you plan on swapping, have you done it? are you speaking from experience or not??
