I have a 98 civic hx and it has 220,000 miles on it and im shure i need a cat. replaced everything but cat to pass smog and no luck. the lean burn mode on this engine is killing me on nox everything els is very low.

now i am wondering if anyone has bought an aftermarket manifold/cat and had any luck with it. i know dorman makes one and couple others ranging from 150-250$.

my car has cali emissions and most cats i see say not for use with cars equipped with cali emissions. and most aftermarket cats cross referance honda number 18160p2ea10 or 12.

that particular honda number is for the civic dx that uses the same cat design as the hx. is there any diff between hx and dx cats. they both look the same and would bolt up but internaly or anything els different.

what i would really like to do is buy a aftermarket cat for a dx and put it on but am not shure if it will work for my hx.

any hx owners have to replace cats yet? and if so what did you do and have luck with. thanks
