mandrel bent exhaust midpipe.....any good?
i am making a custom exhaust for my ex coupe using 2.25" mandrel bent piping and an es oval muffler. i was originally going to use ITR piping and add the 4.5" needed to make it fit. the only problem is that i can only find full ITR exhaust and they are all in the $200 range (more than i want to spend on just piping). i found this last night online. go to http://motionmania.net/ and click on "bolt on exhaust." there will be a bolt on midsection link. it is $139 for the full midpipe. then all i would need is the $99 muffler and the small piping from the midpipe to the muffler....not a problem. is this midpipe any good? i think it is made by Ractive.....which makes me hesitate.....a lot! it looks alright in the picture...but i was wondering if you guys think this is a good or bad idea. thanks for the help.

It doesn't say if the pipe is mandrel or not. It looks like it is strech bent in the corners to me

hmmm....yeah i can kinda see what you are talking about.....ill have to try to find out. anyone else have any ideas.

i've posted in the past about a full custom set-up. i wanted to buy mandrel bent pieces from someplace like jcwhitney and have them welded up to an es oval but no one could help me out with which pieces i would need to buy to get the job done. to my knowledge i dont have a muffler shop around here that does mandrel bent tubing so that option is out. i would love to go the full custom route but i need the above questions answered. any suggestiosn from you guys. thanks

it would require you to measure out the current exhaust layout and compair that to the pieces that jcwit offers. A muffler shop can always cut. However, you may want to get the pipes heat treated and other things then just cutting an welding them on. It is a lot of work and I really haven't bothered yet however you will save money.
