Difficult, but possible. Many different formulas to get there, and when you say reliable, do you mean daily driven reliable? If you do, the 5.5 grand may be a tall order.

5.5 grand for the engine maybe.

2200 for an ls swap
2500-3000 for a custom turbo set-up(prob. less)
1000 for engine management.

then factor a few hundered for tuning and viola, you are in the 12's.

dont forget your slicks

I say this is the way to go...H22...much cheaper and you can get an lsd. Well, maybe not after the engine mounts and **** but probably faster. Get a carbon fiber or fiberglass hood and relocate the battery to the trunk too.

1: why put the battery in the trunk
2: h22 = prelude?
3: what is an lsd
4: what will it run without no2
5: what would a dead cx, a h22, nitrous, headers intake, exhaust, dump, nitrous, sparcos, and a set of slicks run me?

Oooooooo. You need help.
1. Better weight distribution
2. H22 is one of the engines that appeared in the prelude, but no h22 does not equal prelude
3. Limited slip differential - do a search on google for that.
4. No one knows. Gotta build it and run it and find out.
5. Probably more than 5.5 grand. We all figured you already had the hatchback. We were talking about 5.5 grand AFTER you already owned the car.

There is no way to make a honda go anywhere on $5,500.
Hondas are too big of pieces of **** and require TONS of money to make them as fast as me on my pedal bike
Now that's not fair to you just because you don't have a car yet. You'll be able to apply for your license in a couple of years. Till then enjoy your bike!

i had a friend that ran a 12.8 with a totally stock d16y8 in a 90 hatchback with a 125 shot of NAWWZZ (wet kit) and slicks. He did 5 runs..didnt blow it up...pulled the motor and sold it. As far as i know the motor is still happy and runs fine.

Thats like $2000 in mods including the car right there.

haha crazy

1. Better weight distribution
For drag racing, wouldn't you want the weight in the front for more traction? I don't see the advantage here for relocating the battery to the rear.

Understood. There isn't any in a front wheel drive. Of course there is in a rear wheel drive. Some races/classes don't allow the battery to be in the engine compartment (risk of spark). I don't drag race, though, I road race. Some definate advantages in the roadraces of moving the battery for sure.
