Major problems after b18b motor swap.
Big noob here. I have a 96 civic hatch cx and i had a motor swap done. I went from a d16 to a b18b. After the swap things have been pretty bad. My speedometer hops up and down no matter what speed I'm doing, check engine light on, when i apply a lil pressure on the accelerator the engine revs in pulses. Hard to explain but it revs hard then stops over and over again with the slightest of pressure applied. If i press a lil harder it goes away. but always at that certain point. Thats not all. In fourth and fifth gear the car struggles. Feels like the engine is forcing to run. If i drive the car for too long in one shot (ex. highways) the car bucks like crazy when i get anywhere close to the red line. I don't even have to drive hard. It just happens. So i have to drive at low rpms. When i turn the motor off for a while it stops but the 4th & 5th gear struggle doesn't go away. PLEASE HELP!!!

Re: Major problems after b18b motor swap. (sneakernoob)
lets start at basics....
what ecu are you using? are you running the car obd 1 or obd2?
what year is the motor?
what codes are you getting from the ecu?
if i had to guess on one problem itd be that you have the map and tps sensor plugs backwards for one thing... but thats just a blind guess .... pull the codes from the ecu first and then post the results and we will go from there

i think that's part of your problem. do you have the ecu conversion harness?
pre 1995 (obd1)
1996 & up (obd2)

ok. i went to the car and looked for that jumper but i couldnt find it. I pulled out all the plugs to see if any looked familiar but didnt see anything that looked like it.

the jumper is not in the ecu ... you have to remove the kick panel and reach up above it into the dash and youll find it ... its allittle tricky to find at first bc it may be tucked completely away

OK. Thanks. haven't tried it yet though. What tools do i need to pull and replace the wires. I also see that the chart says this is for VTEC only. Will this trick work for my non-vtec. If so great. Secondly do you have any idea how i should solve problem #2?
