It should say EM1 in the VIN, if it it doesn't it's not a true 99-00 SI. If it says EK8 or 9 then it's a EX converted to SI specs.

Si= painted side skirts, the front lip, either Black, Milano red, or EBP, has rear disc brakes. Has the 15 inch Si rims with the H symbol without a circle around the H, leather steering wheel, leather shift **** and boot. DOHC VTEC sticker.

Ex= non painted side skirts, no front lip, alot of other colors, has rear drum brakes, most have hub caps, no leather anything, and no DOHC VTEC.

What people are doing now is putting the new civic ex rims on there oldere civics. They look like EM1 rims but if you get close and look at the H symbol it has a circle around it. The original EM1 rims do not have that circle. Hope I can help.

ANyone else know anything I missed??

True, the entire interior is different.

Anything on the exterior to distinguess the 2.

Personally I always look at the rear brakes to see if it is a real EM1 or not.

Looking at the rear brakes won't tell much lol, I got rear discs on my 97 ex. Which I know you could tell by the rest of the exterior, but going only by brakes isn't the best way.

Now the interior, this is a question I've had, is it all black? I've heard it's interior code is "K" which is for dark gray, the same color as my EX. I know in the newer model ones they had a diff center console, amber radio, etc, but what about the color? Are the pillars also dark gray?

Agreed. The VIN is the only real way of knowing.

Yup, not arguing with this. Just stating a fact. Just because I have Del Sol seats in my car, doesn't make it a Del Sol.

I have a 00si..yes a true one. My pillars are light grey. Now my switches on the left have a fog light switch, since i have the chargespeed front bumper.. With foglights in them. TO all who say you cant change the vin #..you can change everthing with money. Just to let you know. Even title. But yall are right so far just arguing. There are suttle changes..alot of changes.

Exactly. EK9 = Civic Type R.

The VIN is going to be the most obvious answer.
