main relay humming

main relay humming
ok so my friend recently did a swap d16y8 into a 93 civic when u turn the key the main relay begins to hum but the fuel pump doesnt prime. But if we take the end off of the "dead end" connector the humming stops and the fuel pump primes but no spark... ive done many swaps and never ran into this problem and help apreciated. Thanks.
