i have a 99 civic dx/vp with the cat/manifold combo. iam swapping it out with a EX header. which magna flow direct fit cat do i need to put after the EX header, magnaflow #22628 has o2 sensor after cat but says it fits EX up to years 98. the magnaflow #22630 has the o2 sensor in the middle of the cat and says it fits EX model year 99 which is what my civic vp is. my stock cat/manifold combo has the down stream o2 sensor in the end of the cat so i would say its after the cat. which one do i buy ? need some help!

if its for a ex it will fit no prob with a stock cat i would recomend getting a aftermarket random technology cat wit ur set up and still be legal.dx and lx are different if the cat is ont he header it wil not fit if the cat is down low after the header it will not work

What intermediate/mid pipe are you running? If you want everything to fit right you'll need one from a '96 - '00 EX coupe or sedan (both are the same) get a cat for the same year as the pipe.

iam taking dx cracked stock manifold/cat combo off. and putting a megan 4-2-1 header on. i just want to know what magnaflow cat will work correctly. they list 2 that fit EX. one has o2 sensor in middle of cat and the other has o2 sensor right after the cat. which one should i buy? thanks

Again your answer is directly above your last post. If you're trying to reuse the stock intermediate pipe you wont have any room for a cat due to the way the OEM manifold has the cat in the manifold. You'll either have to cut down you stock exhaust and have a flange welded on it or run a stock EX midpipe. In regards to the cat If you get a midpipe with the O2 sensor bung welded to it get the '96 - '98 cat, id it doesn't get the '99 - '00

thanks for the quick reply, i already have a magnaflow cat back exhaust. so it will fit fine. it has a 16" test pipe that i remove and put new cat in its place. i just want to know which cat to buy they both are listed for a 99 EX. the o2 sensor in the middle of the cat or the o2 sensor after the cat. thanks

which cat do i buy? first o2 sensor will be in megan 4-2-1 header. both these cats will fit but o2 bung is in different places. my old crappy dx manifold/cat combo had o2 sensor before cat and second o2 sensor was on bottom of cat just after it.

well i just ordered the cat in the top pic, the one with the o2 sensor after the cat. dont know what the difference is between the two and how it will effect sensor reading. even magnaflow had no idea which one i should use.
