Default magic DISAPPEARING OIL...car wouldnt start....

so like any honda, my car burns a little oil so i keep a close watch on it week to week. If it needs a little... ill give it but it usually doesnt drop below the bottom dot on the dipstick. but today, i went to start my car after letting it sit for like 6 hours during work.... and it wouldnt start....it turned over, but didnt start.

So i check everything and still nothing, so i finally check the oil and i got a bone dry dipstick. went and bought a quart... and started right up...vtec and everything on the way home.

Oil seeps past your vavleseals into the combustion chamber. IT gets combusted, hence, disappearing oil but no drips on the ground.

Check your exhaust, run your finger around the inside, is the black **** just soot or does it have an oily film to it?

Sometimes a compression/leakdown test can tell you. They pressurize the head and listen to where the air is leaking out, or something like that.

Try a non-synthetic oil like castrol GTX. Every honda motor I owned liked to eat mobil 1.

Do you know how many miles are on your engine? You could try switching to a heavier oil, like 10w40, if it's getting old.

isn't castrol parrafin wax based?

as for the miles i dont know how much is on it... swapped from a shop they say 35k or below but....

ill run my finger through the exhaust tonight and let u know the results... but as far as i remember its been black since i got it...

ditto. I was running mobil 1 synthetic with turbo on a d16z6 with 120k miles and it burned through that **** like it was going out of style. I switched to castrol gtx.

But should not be the reason why you'd be that low.... I had a blown headgasket from the cylinder head to block. Oil was leaking out into the coolant system. You might try checking the coolant reservoir to see if it is sludge/black misture. I was losing oil this way.

Just speaking from my personal experience.

I don't understand how all you guys can have such problems with the Synthetics, especially the Mobil 1. My car NEVER has burned a drop of oil and it has ran on that oil since 3k miles, and the motor has about 110k on it now.

Ive never had problems with Mobil1 running it right now boosted with no problem and no eating oil at all. If your car is eating oil it is not the mobil1 but your engine, valve seals, piston rings head gasket going bad or something.
