Maaco
I just got a 94 del sol for 2600 and all it needs is a new spray. Someone had brought up going to maaco to get it. I looked around in some forums and peopel said it was bad/good. I live in North West Indiana has anyone gone to that one. Or could you post pictures if you went to Maaco.

Re: Maaco
eeek.. ive seen one maaco job on the street around here ( central illinois) and it was really orange peely. They dont do good prep work. or finish work.. so if you can do both then id prep it really nice before you bring it in. that way you know the prep is good. then when you get it back you can color sand it and buff it. it takes alot more work but its the only way to make a maaco job look good.

Well, if all you need is a spray, I would still go for the "top-of-the-line" Maaco paint job. It lasts longer and has a longer warranty, so I believe they will let you keep coming back for a free respray (or something like that... might want to as them.) I got a quote from a one around my area and I was quoted around $2400, since I had many dings, a badly oxidized room with a big dent and minor dings and scratches here and there. I didn't follow through because my dad said no, and I had to save my money for other stuff. I did look at their work though, and I watched them and stuff. You can customize your order, like making them remove the windows and stuff but that's why you do prep work so there's no paint on the windows.
I advise you to not go for the cheap-o paint quality (the under $300), since it would be a waste of money.
Like everyone else says, do the prep work yourself, to be safe (tape all the stuff you don't want overspray on, make sure you make it good so that when they paint it, it looks perfect. Like the saying goes, if you want it done right do it yourself. Plus it gives you a discount off labor and you'll have peace of mind.

Re: Maaco
true i just went to my local Maaco and they seem to be the only company around me that actually does spraying. For instance went to a collision center and they quoted me 4000 dollars which is more then the car is worth. The one i was looking at getting at maaco is there one under signiture the 550 dollar. They use polyuetherne paint however its spelt and people said thats the best one to do.

Re: Maaco
any paint shop that takes pride in what they do will take off parts, not tape them up.
i've had my previous car painted there before. i even threw in extra money on an additional package. when i got my car back, i instantly regretted spending my money there. you definately get what you pay for. for those that say the paint job from them is good, they've never seen nice paint work done.
also, maaco uses a single stage paint (not base & clear coat) for many of their lower packages. this means that you wont be able to color sand or buff the paint should you have any imperfections or what not in the paint.
also, if you plan on keeping your car, think about this: its going to cost you more money down the line if you want the car painted properly. the painter is going to have to strip the car back down to metal and that'll cost you an arm and a leg...
