figured this was honda tech so id share my recent lsvtec problems. got the motor off a buddy in a trade for a good b16, the lsvtec when i got it had no compression in cylinders 2 & 3 so i figured i give rebuilting it a shot since i had a spare bottom end from my other lsvtec build just laying around.

got it all together and somehow got in a rush and put the intake cam 180 degrees out, fixed that and the car would not start just crank and crank and crank with the every now and then hit, pulled the plugs to check for spark and had that then i undid the fuel rail with injectors to see if they were spraying and they were and the whole time i was only getting codes 21 (vtec) and 41 (o2 heater) and that was simply cause they were unhooked so i figured i would reset the motor timing, still no fire just the every now and then hit,

at this point im getting a little mad so i figure ill check the compression and it checks out at 125-112-110-125 and any a/f mix should fire in the 100 range so last ditch effort i take the BRAND NEW distributor off and put it in my crx converted to obd1 with hondata, well it was missing really bad up top in the rex so i retarded the timing at the distributor a little and it still misses but only around 7k rpm so i finally break out the timing gun and try to see what the timing is, i set hondata for 16 degrees locked and shoot the light and i got 13 3/10 degrees timing, it took retarding it to the max to get 16 degrees. throw that old one in the eg lsvtec and it literally fired first hit so anyone having problems of that nature might give that a shot, it worked for me and if it helps anyone else this post was worth it
