Default lsvtec help!!!

ok this lsvtec thing is starting to **** me off and i really need someone to help me out on this...yes iv searched but anyways i just got my lsvtec rebuild swap back from the shop and here are the main parts..

b18b block
b16 tranny
oversized ctr pistons
stock pnp gsr head
si ecu

..anyways the motor doesnt even have 1k on it yet and already it sounds little bit like a wrx(could that be running on 3 cylinders?)at idle... and when im in gear to throttle the car, the valves start ticking (could be valves sticking) the more gas i give the faster and louder the valves tick.....last, when im driving and go to neutral, the rpm drops below one and dies..it doesnt die as long as im in gear ...anyone?

I would ask the shop that done the rebuild if they did the job correctly and made sure to adjust the valves and such.. We have a machine shop here that people were going to, but they started messing up people's stuff, now nobody is taking it to them because of it..
