It depends. What motor are you getting? What car is it going into? If you're just going to daily drive the car and have the motor for a bit extra go, than no. If this is going to be a track/drag car, than yes I would invest in an transmission that comes with a limited-slip differential.

If the car is going to be used for the track use and you're planning on modding that motor than yes, I would get the LSD.

No problem, I'm here to help. What are you planning to do to your b16a2? What's your budget look like? Is this car going to be daily driven?

What kind of car do you have now? With what motor? If you're running a d16z6/y8 motor, you'll find that the b16a isn't much better than motor you currently have. If you do have one of the said motors, I would possibly look into boosting the motor. You'll find that D series with boost can be quite the contenders against those with DOHC motors.

Perhaps, if you want a little more power.. You may consider getting a JDM GS-R motor (b18c) this motor is substantially faster than the b16a2.

Save, save, save. That's what most of us had to do. Honestly, if you're wanting speed. It's going to be hard to find with the b16a2. Trust me, I wanted a b16a for the longest time. Than I raced my buddy with my EJ1 coupe (d16z6) and we were even the whole time. He BARELY pulled me. From that day forward, I've had my mind set on a b18c.

Unless your car was lighter and modded, your friend must be a pretty rotten driver. It won't be like he would smash you to pieces with his a2, but you should not be able to hang with him like you describe. Anyway, just MHO.

We both had the common I/H/E. He was in an EM1 and I was in my EJ1, and neither of us are 'rotten' drivers. The b16a is more or the less the z6 with an extra camshaft. Get the b18c, you'll be happier.
