LS/Vtec probs
I got my ECU that is chipped to run LS/Vtec from phearable.net but it idles VERY rough and low and I can floor it and it will only go to like 800 RPMs.....The most I can get the RPMs up to is like 2500 and thats with pumping the gas pedal over and over. The car runs smooth with a stock P28!!! It only has one O2 sensor where the cat conv. used to be.....the only code its throwing is primary O2....this is with both ECU's....I'm stumped...there is one plug that I dont know where it goes so maybe that is it. i will try to take a pic of it

Re: LS/Vtec probs (psychotic7)
Wrong code!!! It's throwing code 10, IAT sensor. This is it right??
Can anybody tell me what this goes to, its on the passenger side firewall next to the ABS stuff
Finally, what sensor is this....it is hanging behind the IM....the wire colors are yellow/black and red/yellow

Thank you so much for the info....so the first and third are IAT sensors
This is in a 94 Civic EX...so I do not need the the middle plug???
So, do you guys think this is the reason my car is acting crazy with the LS/Vtec ECU....the second sensor is not in the intake tubing? Could this be throwing the ECU off? The D16 Vtec Civics only use one IAT sensor so is this why it runs good with the P28?

The guy said it was a GSR harness...which is why I have the spare plug in the second pic and two IAT sensors....I hope I can still use the harness. I appreciate all the replies, maybe I can find the prob soon and start enjoying the full potential of this car

ok...I'm on to something here. I am not a guy to get info for free without researching myself....so i went to the advance auto parts and bought a haynes manual and quickly went to the wiring diagrams.
In the first pic of the IAT sensor, notice the wire colors. One is Red/Blue and Black. Well I know the harness is a GSR one so I looked at the 94-95 harness diagrams and found none that had sensors with these wire colors....so I flipped to the 98 and up section where BINGO i found these wire colors on the connector for the Intake Air Bypass Solenoid, which i do not have anymore because the Skunk 2 IM....So I know now that the sensor has the wrong connector on it. Well according to the manual, the wire colors for the IAT sensor are Red/Yellow and Green/Black...can anybody confirm this for me??? what are your wire colors?

Also...this would mean that i have to get a jumper harness to run my OBD-1 ECU right??? Maybe the P28 thats in there is OBD-2??? Are the plugs that connect to the ECU the same for OBD-1 and OBD-2?

There is definitely a sensor crossed or wired wrong for the chipped ECU to be causing idle probs and serious hesitation....do you think I should just cut the two wires on the plug thats on the sensor and run them to the correct pins on the ECU???

i did the same thing on my h22, the iat is red/yellow and grn/blck like you said, so just plug that one into the iat, and you probably want to pull the iat out and see if it is burnt up also

Ok in the third pic.....the guy before me hooked a 6th gen civic IAT sensor to that plug which goes to some kind of emissions purge vlave so i took the sensor out and i cut the plug in the first pic which went to the IAB solenoid and spliced one wire to the green wire off the TPS since it shares the same wire through the circut and I ran the other to the red/yellow at the ECU which is for the IAT sensor and NOW I HAVE NO MORE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!!!! I can now get the car to stay running at idle which is VERY rough still and fluctuating and still with the LS/Vtec ECU I push the gas and the car dies or I can pump it over and over and it might go as high as 2k rpm...it spudders really bad as well......could there be a wrong part or sensor on the LS/Vtec that is correct for the P28 but not for a Vtec B Series

Re: (psychotic7)
TRY switching the tps plug with the idle air controller plug. they look the same and are very close 2 one another. it would explain the choking of the car when u give it throttle

maybe you got a bad chip?, i mixed up the iat and iac which caused crazy idle problems but it still ran fine other than that. did you figure out where the plug in the first picture went to?

If I had any sensors crossed then it would be messed up with the p28 as well as well as throw a code and i had the same symptoms with another chipped ECU
the second plug wire colors are red/white, blue/red and white/red
