LS VTEC?... LS TURBOCHARGED?

LS Vtec is an LS block with a GSR head.....but, it isn't a GSR, the components are different...the LS has a lower compresion ratio and I know that there are other things too.
LS turbo is a turbocharged LS...NOT VTEC.
If you are planning to do a swap in the furture, save your money and do it right, if you want to have a turbo then I am not sure what would be a good base but, if you don't want a turbo and just want good reliable horsepower go with the B18C1 or B18C5 (GSR/TYPE R). I am not to excitied about the LS/VTEC....and am saving for a B18C5 changeover......no matter how much it costs in the long run it will be better to go with an engine built to "play".

Re: LS VTEC?... LS TURBOCHARGED? (DragIIcivic)
id say go ls+turbo. i read about some guy named bgboost i think that ran a drag3 kit (maybe drag2) in his ls with 8 or 10 psi (dont remember) and made 270 or somewhere very close to there. plus, in my opinion, i think if you want to do a correct ls/vtec, its gonna cost way more money (shorter gear tranny, buiilt bottom)

Ok first of all LS/VTEC is not a LS block with a GSR head...LS/VTEC is a LS block with any VTEC head B16/GSR/ITR
The plus to LS/VTEC is LS torque with High end VTEC power
Drawbacks are the long stroke of an LS does not like high revs, also the VTEC blocks have oil squirters that shoot oil at the pistons from underneath the pistons to keep them cool in high rpm's LS blocks do not have these oil jets, also on all honda blocks there are 5 main bearings(the crank bearings) on a VTEC block the middle three are held down by one main bearing cap tieing them all together because at high rpms the crank moves back and forth(hence the thrust washers in honda blocks) on a LS block all main bearing caps are seperate so the crank itself isn't very high rpm stable.
So for reliability I suggest turbo...you may not have that high end HP but with the HP and torque figures of a turbo charged LS who needs high end HP....VTEC motors are much more all motor friendly...if you want VTEC I highly suggest just swapping a GSR in.

With all the potential problems of going LS/VTEC, you'd be much better off (imho) in the long run going turbo. I went through this same decision with our project car and we're going to be going turbo. I've seen prices for LS/VTEC as low as $1600 yet, strangely, never heard of anyone spending less than 3k on it. In the end, you're going to have less power than a turbo and probably less reliability as well. An LS w/ Drag Gen. III should put out 220 or so whp min. (I have seen a bit more but that's the average). With LS/VTEC, you'd be looking at 160-180 usually. Hell, there's a guy on the integra board who's spending over $9000 for his LS/VTEC!!!

LS VTEC is pretty fast and as what the rest of the guys are saying, that thing does burn allot of oil but but but.....IT HAULS ***!!! say you got a ls and a si and put them together..... ****!!!!!!!! ls block with a b16a1 top end with the help (of course) of the boltons and a MSD along with Apexi VAFC with of course AEM's fuel toys (FPR, Rail, Gears) in a 5g coupe with full interior and you got yourself a low 9 second car in the 1/8 but the 1/4 is soon to come so i'll post later on
