LS Vtec Legality in NJ????
Hey guys, I plan on getting the b16a for my car and doing ls vtec down the line. I read the post on here about people mainly in CA swapping them and not being legal which I can understand, but in NJ where there isn't usually an under the hood visual inspection, can the ls vtec pass on the emissions machine? If it doesn't pass the first time can things be done to make it work?? Any help appreciated.

You answered your own question. They don't pop the hood on your car. Therefore you will not get caught. As long as smog regulations are okay.

The reason it doesn't pass in Cali is not because of emmissions, but because an LS block with a Vtec head was never a factory offering from Honda, therefore it can't be verified as legal by the State Referee. I've been hearing rumors that a few people have verified their LS/V's but I've never seen one in person.

HEy HAPPYMAN.... When ever i do a New Jersey state inspection on a car when im at work.... i always pop the hood... Considering it is part of our SOP and all... Gotta know what engine size to put into the computer... As for passing an emissions test...i see swaps come in all the time... the only one i saw was a gsr swap into a cx bubble back... he failed his emissions test the first time... dont know how he passed when he came back the second time...
