ls vtec chipped ecu
Took a look at my ecu today and there was no sticker on it to indicate what car the ecu came out of.
Called and ask the pervious owner and he said it is a obd1 gsr ecu chipped for lsvtec.
I drive a 95 civic hb si with 98 itr swap.
My question is, is it possible that my car is not running full potential considering it has the "wrong ecu"?
Thanks.

Re: ls vtec chipped ecu (spintboy)
yes it is posible, try to get a itr ecu, remember that itr vtec crossover higher than wella ls vtec and the fuel maps are different. if the ecu is chipped try to get a base map for a itr. phearable.net will send you a chip for cheap.

Yes, you would want to be running on the proper basemap for your motor setup.
If the ecu is socketed you could simply replace the eprom chip with a chip mapped for your itr swap.
An instructional video on how to replace an eprom chip in an already socketed ecu is on http://www.phearable.net/tech/
Let us know if you have any other questions.

Tried opening it up. There are no sticker in there either.
The ecu i have now allows the vtec to engage at 5700 and redline at 8500.
If im correct, thats where the stock itr engages and redline at...?
Anyways, im not so familiar with ecu and chipping. What exactly are base maps and all that?
Im going to upgrade my motor soon and tune it, so should i just wait until i do that, then get the right ecu?

Re: ls vtec chipped ecu (Cza_EM1)
Well, to my knowledge a usdm itr motor vtec engages at 5700 and redline at 8500.
Whats up with this base map stuff. Can sometime take a time off and explain it to me.
