Default ls/vtec build

picked up my b18b1 motor and started to break it down to check out internals. looks pretty good so far, gonna send out to machine shop for hot tank, hone and pressure test block.

cylinder walls look great, guy said it only had about 60k on it, just wanted to make sure he wasnt bullshitting me lol. will post more pics of progress

b18b1 block
p30 pistons
shotpeen ls rods
stock crank
oem bearings
arp rod bolts
arp head studs
itr oil pump
itr water pump
itr t-belt
GE ls/vtec conversion
ls headgasket

GSR head
ITR valvetrain
gsr cams(hopefully upgrading)
aem cam gears

Looks good, I'm about to order my pistons and have my block machined and everything. So excited to get this together! Any number goals?

yea man same here. i work at honda so i get that employee discount on those p30 pistons and rings lol. im tryin to get about 180hp. from all threads ive read i should be around there. im also lookin into skunk2 intake manifold, rdx injectors, cai, and exhaust obviosly.
cant wait to start buyin things and installing

just finished tearing down the motor and gettin ready to send it to the machine shop to check cylnders, hot tank, pressure test

damn that motor does look like it was taken care of.. sounds like its gonna be a nice lsv with all oem parts

yea man def was taken care of, i bought it off craigslist so i was nervous of what the internals was gonna look like, glad its in good shape

i payed 300 for longblock. no intake manifold. i thought it was a fair price. tryin to pick up a gsr head to start tearin apart

No the cylinder walls do not look great, they are glazed and have no crosshatch left, get it honed a little.

I agree. Unless you've taken bad photos those walls look a little too smooth.

yea they are smooth and crosshatches are there. im gonna have the machine shop check the cylinders and if they dont need to be bored im gonna keep it at 81mm and get a fresh hone. i wanna order my p30 pistons but i wanna wait till he's done checkin it out. this build is going to be done right the first time

yea absolutely, not tryin to **** **** up lol. im going to order oem main and rod bearings, is it necessary to measure clearances there or ok to put in brand new bearing? with arp main studs and rod bolts of course

definitely check the clearances due to the fact that it tells you to in the Oem service manual with any new part you install. everything you are doing looks great so far! keep up the good work.

keep in mind if you are trying to get the most potential horsepower out of your rotating assembly the looser the better! there are a usually a few size options when using oem bearings. good luck

it would be great if you found a GSR head as averse to a b16/typeR because the GSR head will yield more compression raising the potential for more horsepower.

the best service manual to get is the (dont quote me on this) 92-93 integra because it came with both the b18a and b17vtec engine so it has all the info you will ever need on both ls and gsr engines. hope this helps
