there are people that I know that have had it for over 50k miles with no problems. Be sure to break it in all good, and do car maintenience more then a normal motor.

If built correctly with good quality parts it will last a good amount of time...

LS/Vtec needs a little more maintance than a regualr b16 or b18c swap..If you take care of the motor and break it in well it should last you a while...

maintenance is the same as with any motor. just be more thorough about it and the main thing to watch is oil pressure. have a gauge to monitor that so you know if the oil pump might be going out.

but other than that, basic oil changes, etc. will do fine.

have fun!

Yep, brake in is key. I changed my oil three times within the first 1000 miles. I also did not hit VTEC for the first 1000 miles. I use 20w50 oil in mine. I have just over 10,000 miles on it now with no problems.

Look, I love LS/VTEC and CR-VTEC motors, but the problem with them is their rod angle. Why is that a problem? Because a 'chipped' LS/VTEC will easily spin to 9000+ RPM. Stock internals just won't put up with that for very long, you know?

So, to answer your question, driving it "normal" and "rarely punching" it - it'll last as long as any other Honda motor...

Then what is the point of building an LS/VTEC?...
I agree with you. Could ANYBODY drive this car conservatively? Would ANYBODY want to???
