As few bad things I've heard about the b20, I've never heard any bad things about the b18b as long as the motor is in decent condition.
The problem with b20's are they're made for a light truck and aren't legal in most sates. Also it's not a very rev-happy motor.
If I was to do a budget swap, I'd do a b18b with a gsr or b16 trans.

head on both swaps are the same. cylinder walls on a b20 are not as thick but for everyday either would be fine. for boost with no mods it would be b18 but with mods go on and do the b20. your goona go inside anyway so why not for now and get a lil more torque. especially like ek forever guy said with a b16 or gsr tranny, it would be very stout.

my boy got a ls wit a b16 tranny......beats it everyday and hasn't broke. only thing about the b16 tranny is that the gears r so close, at 50mph he is sitting at 4500rpm
