LS/Turbo in EG hatch Question
Im planning on doing this swap into my hatch and i was just wondering how many are running this set up now and the success ( time wise ) you guys are having.I plan on building the motor to handle at least 10-15 pounds of boost.I tried to search but had no luck. I would appriciate any help any of you can provide,Thanks for your time.

Re: LS/Turbo in EG hatch Question (GreenCivicEg)
there are numerous people on this board who easily run 10-12 psi on a stock LS motor with some sort of standalone engine management. hondata/aem, etc. tuning is the most important thing to consider when turbocharging a honda.
what are your hp goals? what's your budget? and what do you mean when you say "building" the motor....

Re: LS/Turbo in EG hatch Question (GreenCivicEg)
I have an ls turbo in my hatch with a built motor. I am running an AEM EMS tuned to 14 psi I was putting out 301 at 14psi. I have stock steel rims and some shitty *** tires on it and I turned a 12.9. That is a brief description of the car. As far as dependability goes don’t want to jinx myself but i drive it over 1000 miles a week. Still going.

Re: LS/Turbo in EG hatch Question (GreenCivicEg)
The boost level really depends on the size of the turbo. You have to look at HP goals. I believe the stock LS bottom end can handle around 340 if tuned right. A small turbo at 20 psi might only make the same power as a large turbo at 9 psi. Check the thread about the SCC article about the girl's red hatch (somewhere on the first or second page), then read the links to. There is a lot of useful info about the LS turbo set up.

Sorry for kind of leaving you hanging about somethings. I dont really have any HP goals, i would be happy running 13's.Im on a slight budget which is why i decided to go straight ls turbo instead of lsvtec.I would rather use the money i was going to use on putting in the vtec, i would rather use it on just maintaining and rebuilding the ls.When i say building i mean just replacing the stock internals with those better suited for boost.I dont wanna blow anything.I know when it comes to times there are alot of factors in it, but that is my goal to run 13's even high ones.

Re: LS/Turbo in EG hatch Question (purek9hybrid)
Im not saying lsturbo is cheaper then lsvtec.I dont want to go straight lsvtec, i want to boost.Going ls turbo would be cheaper for me then going lsvtec turbo.I will have to take it to a shop and have the Vtec part installed so thats the money im factoring into my deciscion.I will also have to buy a head.Im looking at close to 1,000 just for a head and proper install.I could use that 1000 towards rebuilding the ls.Maybe if i could do it all myself, it would be a different story, but i cant and that is something i dont really want to experiment with, could end up being a costly lesson.Maybe in the future when i have more cash and more experience then Vtec will be an option, but for now, straight LS turbo it is.
