Default LS swap in the process

hey h-t , what a great place to hang around.
anyway, this site got me so hooked on fixing my car, and i saw so many nice swap and nice hatches, i got involved in doing it myself.

so happy is in

List of questions

1. LS swap went in, car started without check engine light , right now, I only put the driver side axle in and passanger side hasn't go in yet, when the car started and let it run, everything is ok, but when I rev it up, my MPH goes up and down 0-25mph. So what is that all about?

2. Since the swap, now the (eg)cytalytic converter and the (teg)header where it meets, there's like a 1.5 to 2 inches gap in between and i couldn't bolt them together. Now what can i do? I am going to try to use the one from the integra tomorrow, would that work?

3. Knock sensor, I have read and searched that I need to wire the knock sensor to the teg ecu. How? Red/Blue to D3, that's all i know, i can get more details please.

thanks. More to come

edit: fixed pix

patience my friend.

Sorry, I cant answer your questions.

Edit
The speedometer could be some wiring or a fuse.
The Teg cat should fix that problem to my understanding/

when i had mine done, it took it to a local muffler shop, they just welded in a connection plate. i belive you need both halfshafts.

the teg cat should be 1-2" longer than the civic.......the more cost-effiecient way out would be to just have a muffler shop weld a 2" extension with flanges on both ends to make up for the slack.....i'd say $10-20

It's because you don't have the other axle in. When you put both axles all the way in, you'll see your problem gone. I know this because my passenger side axle was not all the way in when I did my swap, and I had the same problem.
2. Since the swap, now the (eg)cytalytic converter and the (teg)header where it meets, there's like a 1.5 to 2 inches gap in between and i couldn't bolt them together. Now what can i do? I am going to try to use the one from the integra tomorrow, would that work?
I don't know exactly about the integra one, but I just took it to a muffler shop, and the cut the flange off, extended and rotated it and welded it back on. It only costs about $30.
3. Knock sensor, I have read and searched that I need to wire the knock sensor to the teg ecu. How? Red/Blue to D3, that's all i know, i can get more details please.
I don't know what you're talking about. The only reason you might run into problems is if you aren't using the LS ECU. You have an OBDI motor, so use theOBD I LS ECU (P75) and it should plug in with no problems.

HTH.

PS, If you have anymore questions, feel free to IM me. I did this swap about a year ago and I may be able to help you more.

yes, i am useing the LS ECU (P75) and i read that and some people tell me the only mod i need to do is add the knock sensor wire. I am using the si wiring harness by the way. Everything clip right in from the motor to the wiring.

check all the pins and terminals....spray with some electrical cleaner and make sure all wires are ran ok....not pinched or torn....and u should be fine

If you can, try and get your hands on the LS harness. I used the harness that came on my motor, and it worked fine, now CELs.

Also like someone else said, check all of your connections and make sure your grounds are all good. You should be all set.

I could be wrong, but I am 99% sure that your LS motor does not have a knock sensor. That swap should be 100% plug and play with your Civic (I have never heard of people having catalytic converter problems before). All your wiring from the Civic should plug up to the LS perfectly (have to extend some wires and there will be a few left over since you said you are using Si harness and Si has VTEC plugs). Your ECU should also plug right in and work perfectly. Your speedo is getting a reading without moving because you don't have the second axle in.

The stock civic cat has the flange mount horizontally. It is also about an inch too short. The exhaust manifold for the LS has it's bolts on an angle. The angle and the length pose the problems.
