LS swap price question
i have a good friend that has an LS motor in his crx that hes not driving cause from what he has told me it has a blown head gasket... He recently told me that he might be getting rid of the car/motor or one or the other or both... hes not 100% sure yet. I was thinking about buying the motor and doing an LS vtec. so my question is... being that hes my best friend and taking into consideration that the engine isnt running right... how much should i offer him for the full swap? engine, tranny and everything

what car so you have? if it is not a EF of sorts, you would have to get a new trans. Also if it is a OBD0 motor you will have to update it if its going in and EG. Check the stickies at the top of the page about motor swaps also.

I would not trust an engine with a blown head gasket unless you want to completely dissassemble it and have the block resurfaced, head resurfaced, all new bearings, rings, valvestem seals, valve guides (possibly), seals, etc. etc.
It's a $100.00 engine IMO.
Now there will be some people that say "dude slap a head gasket on it and be done!" but I personally would not. Especially given that you'll need to pull the engine first, get a hydro tranny, etc. etc.
Usually when you try to go the cheapest route possible you end up with a ton of head aches. I personally try to spend the extra money and get quality stuff the first time.
Good luck!
