My brother put a built ls into his 97 lx civic. It runs but when ever you try get on it, it cuts out, spits and sputters. i checked the timing and its right. he hasn't had the iacv wired in so it idles funny and i was wondering if that could be it. also it has good plugs in it. the motor is a 2000 block with a 93 head on it.

Well im having similar trouble and ur timing belt might be off by one tooth...

Is this only after a certain rpm or just WOT?

My timing was a few teeth off, but has been fixed and the problem still consist. also it is more when i give it full throttle, it runs alright when driven normal. Just noticed it burns some oil now, never did before this problem occured.

that was what i was thinking too, but the fuel injectors are plugged in correctly. have not chekced fuel filter.

Look at each plug in the cylinder's one at a time after driving the car, they should have a story to tell......

Built ls might mean u need to upgrade ur fuel delivery.

What ECU are you running?

95 integra ls ecu thats chipped. Do not know exactly the chip specs. and it never did this when my other head was on...thats why i havent upgraded yet.

try using a different ecu see what it does if not then check your dip stick for signs of blown headgasket,
