???LS Slave Cylinder On B16 Trans???
I think my B16 slave is messed up.
When clutch is fully depressed...goes in gears rough
Clutch one inch up off the floor...shifts like butter
At idle in neutral...I here a whistling noise
Push clutch in an inch...noise goes away
The sound at idle seems to be coming from the Slave Cylinder
I have an LS swap in my garage and wonder if someone can tell me if I can try the LS Slave Cylinder???
Any help would be great. i have been told that the D and B series slaves are the same but, as we all know, more input the better

Re: ???LS Slave Cylinder On B16 Trans???
Thanks 94EG8.
Just getting more input.
Someone else told me that its best to use a D series for an EG swap (I have a '92 si). But I ran an LS swap in a hatch for 10yrs and never had a problem. Just don't want to drain the fluid....take it out and all that to find it doesn't fit.
Why would that guy say D series?
Because the master cylinder and lines were designed for that slave cylinder?
How the hell are the master cylinders and lines that different when the slave cylinders are supposed to be the same??
So many things are interchangeable but I thought I'd ask soem of you guys so i could make the more educated decision
Just looking for some more input

Re: ???LS Slave Cylinder On B16 Trans???
Well i think its the throw out bearing but won't be able to tell until next weekend. (not looking forward to that after I just swapped the motor in last weekend)
Its a brand new set up but I used the bearing it came with instead of getting OEM one.
The whistle sound I have at idle/neutral plus the rough sounding spinning and rough gear shift when clutch is fully depressed but feels great one inch off the floor and makes no whistle noise if I barely push the clutch in when its at idle/neutral
This all seems like throw out bearing....right?
I talked to a few others and I heard everything from the shaft that the clutch is attached to or the slave or the throw out or the pressure plate or that it wasn't installed right...
I torqued to specs and trans went into place fine so i think the install is fine.
Clutches runs well at any rpm range and at quicker shifts....no noise or grinds (although I don't take it to the floor because the noise I hear when its sitting still)
I thought it could be the ball on the end of the slave is squeaking on the arm to the throw out bearing but I soon realized that it was wishful thinking.
Noise gets louder as it idles so the slave thing is out the window. I'm taking it apart next weekend.
I hate taking breaking that lower arm from the lower ball joint. Any secrets???
Gotta do it to remove the axles from the brake assembly....dont you?
I saw a youtube of a guy just down kicking the brake rotor with his foot and broke the seal loose but I'm a little scared to do it and not sure if it was camera magic with one that was already loosened and waiting to be taken apart.

Re: ???LS Slave Cylinder On B16 Trans???
Now I've been told to look at the input shaft bearing in the transmission. I'm going to check the throw out bearing and I'll put my LS slave on there but don't know how to deal with changing the input shaft bearing....need to tear the trans apart a little...right?
