I voted LS.

Just a daily driven get the 1.8L and if you crave more.....you can always take your time and throw a VTEC head on there.

yeah, but if you put the vtec head on the ls, the tranny will still suck. why not just get the b16 and give it an ls block. i voted b16 cuz i have one and its hella fun. once vtec hits, you will walk away from an ls anyday. the b16 is always faster stock vs stock. plus the b16 has more aftermarket parts available that are easier to find. they can retain a fair idle with high lift, long duration cams.

just my opinion though

i voted ls. u could do the ls vtec. true tranny off a ls sux, but not when it comes to boostin. so why not do a ls vtec turbo. honestly id do a b16 head and b30 bottom, and boost it. but tahts a money issue. since ur doing basci bolt ons just get the ls. its cheaper, and ls integras an si ciivics run bout the same from waht ive seen

thankx for the replies. but im not thinkin of goin LS vtec if i go LS and i dont plan to go turbo on any motor. money is not the issue. i just want something reliable and and the same time have fun with it. its not like im gonna be racing or AUto xing alot. this will be a daily driven car from work and home and school. basic bolt ons are my only plans for these motors. down the line, maybe a few internal work. but im not willin to spend alot of money and see it go to waste once i blow it the motor! hehe. i am a decent driver and dont race that much.

go b16 over LS. If you get LS and decide to go LS-VTEC you have to make oil lines and also will need a new tranny cause the LS tranny sux plus you need a vtec head. LS-Vtec is not as reliable as b16. I would also get the b16 to hear the vtec scream. Alot of parts for b16 are available. b16 btw this is my opinion

go with the ls w/ vtec head.....or u can go ls turbo which are both way better than a b16 anyday... sure u are gonna need oil line but in the end, its well worth it. im pretty sure if u try, u can get an ls/vtec setup around the same price range as a b16....plus you'll still have the bottom end of an ls, and a badass topend

If you don't plan on modifying....here is the simple way to figure it out. Do you like driving with you 1.6L right now and just wish it revved higher?

If not, get the larger engine.

*Spade who just test drove a 2.5L that only has 150 WHP but is madly in love.

I voted B16.

LS/Vtec's are not reliable and IMO a hatch with b16 is a great choice for a daily driver / weekend warrior. LS motors are not the TQ monsters everybody claims they are. I'm so sick of hearing about that sh*t...

Stock for Stock the B16 will beat the LS...

i havent voted because i too am not sure what you should get . The ls motor would be a whole lot cheaper, but the b16 is the most fun motor out there. Theres nothing like being able to rev the daylights out of it and not be worried. stock vs. stock, the ls would be ahead only until the b16 gets into vtec range. then the ls is screwed. Now that i think of it, for a daily driver/weeked warrior the b16 is the one to go with!

Well neither was an B16 head no an LS block but you didn't complain about everyond else suggesting that. I would go with the LS because it has a broad torque range, but you have to rev the hell out of a b16 to go anywhere.

And you can get a B20 block for fairly cheap so I think that's a better idea than the 1.8 block.
