lowering springs

lowering springs
so i have a 99 DX coupe. it's on oem springs/struts, 14 in steelies and 185 tires, wanna lower it 2 inches but when I try to estimate it looks like the fender would rub with the tires in the front atleast since the front is lower than back. should i go with 2 in drop or 1.5' or 1.75' drop for my tires not to rub against anything but the road.

Re: lowering springs
how much were ur coils? i see them on amazon cheap as **** too good to be true. 30-40 bucks? when lowering springs go for about 160 without coilovers.

Re: lowering springs
shouldnt have any issues dropping it atleast 2". Do not buy cheap springs or coilovers. Make sure you upgrade your shocks too. kyb gr-2 are nice shocks for a decent price. if you want lowering springs imo tein s-techs are good for the price. Or just buy a full set of racelands for like $400. If you buy cheap expect to be dissapointed.

Re: lowering springs
racelands are **** don't bother with them. you NEED new shocks you'll blow the stock ones pretty fast with a 2'' drop. KYB AGX are a decent shock for the price Koni yellow's are good also tokico blue's.

Re: lowering springs
racelands are not ****. My friend has had his on for almost 2 years now with no issues. Ebay is ****. $700 you are looking in the wrong place. Do some research or go lower your car on $40 ebay coilovers and stock struts.

Re: lowering springs
struts dampen road forces and keep your tires on the ground and springs carry the vehicle weight. If you go cheap or pay too much for crap you're making your ride suck, wasting money because you'll have to replace blown suspension components and the garbage you bought. Trust me its a hard pill to swallow, but save up and do it right and it will last and long time, plus you will be happy with the ride.

Re: lowering springs
Ebay=unbranded knock-offs. Not Ebay itself.

Re: lowering springs
You're not going to rub on a 2'' drop. I've dropped a civic on eBay coils before as low as she'll go and didn't have issues with tires rubbing unless I hit the occasional bump in the road. Which brings me to my next point....
Do NOT buy eBay coilovers and slap them on your stock struts. I did it once, And never again. Bouncey, miserable ride. I didn't even want to drive it. Bear in mind, My daily commute is 50+ miles total and I live in Northern Minnesota.
Now I'm much wiser. I'm running Koni yellows in my EK as low as they'll go and it still feels almost stock in terms of ride quality. HUGE DIFFERENCE. Koni's aren't top of the line by any means, But wow. Worth every penny. Spend the extra cash and you'll be thanking yourself every time you turn the key over.

Re: lowering springs
Youre estimating your two inches on what you see now, your 10+ year old springs are sagging im guessing and youll be fine.
And dont buy tokico blues.
