Default Lowering Springs

I never had to drop my car but im getting a stock EG hatch and i was wondering would a 1.5 drop at the front and a 1.25 drop at the back would make it a bumpy ride

I want to probably get neuspeed or eibach springs

i dont want to have a bouncy ride and im getting kyb gas shocks too if that would help it not bounce

you should be fine with that setup regular coilovers would be bouncy.

coilovers are usually notorious for bouncing, although springs are a little better...

someone else was having a similar discussion, maybe this will help you...

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1581911

in my opinion unless you spend the extra money and get a quality suspension you are setting yourself up to be unsatisfied. if you want to save money and hope everything works out best of luck, and let me know how it ends up. but i wouldn't compromise a good ride for a few more hundred dollars. i find people will always end up trying to cut corners on important things such as suspension, but don't have an issue dumping money into power. without a good suspension you are compromising your power as well.

sorry i couldn't give you any more advice.

so how much are you going to spen on the springs for that kind of drop?
i would rather cut my spring like 2-3 coils from the top where they cut the from the factory straight down. save that 100 bucks or so and do something else with that money. but 1.5" - 1.25" shouldnt be bad.

you should be fine. just remember that any supension mods you do will alter your ride. most likely it will be somewhat bumpyer but with the kyb's you should be okay.

Cutting the springs would be a bad idea ....the car would end up bouncing just as bad if not worse than coilovers....Buying springs would be the best route to take i think..

with that size drop, right in the range of the Pro-Kit springs, you should be fine on even the kyb gr-2's. the agx would be better, plus its adjustability and warranty, but with such a small drop, you wont be looking at that significant an increase in spring rate to give you a rough/bouncy ride.

Not to mention the blown struts.... a lot of people dont replace their stock struts with aftermarket ones when buying lowering springs. The things are designed to ride at a certain height and when you lower your car you are just leaving them compressed all the time, and even more compressed when your car bounces up and down. So i guess what im trying to say is replace your struts with your springs....

my sentiments exactly, why go half *** on the suspension when it plays such an important role.

With that small of a drop is there anything else you would have to change out or would consider changing as to not throw the suspension off?

i would get an alignment, but other than the springs and recommended switching of shocks, nothing else is required

have you actully tried doing it. i've been ridding on cut springs for 2 years now and have no problems. stuts are all still in perfect working condition. i've got 4 coils cut and doesnt bounce as bad as friends skunk2 coilover and other aftermarket springs in other cars. my personal prefernce. try it before you post.
oh and 6-8 coils i can't say the same about. 3-4 ok

Riiiiiight..........keep thinkin' that buddy, springs suck

Springs are fine, but for the future, get a good spring/shock combo....can't go wrong. Just do your research before you buy. Check out the suspension forum, or RR AUTO-X, they know more than the average HT-Boob.....Good luck

actually teins will probably give him the most comfortable / least bumpy ride... their spring rates are closest to stock compared to the other springs listed. and they have a 5mm sag warranty.

I'm running KYB shocks and coil overs dumped on my EG, the ride is very comfortable. I'm running Koni shocks on my EF with ebay coil-overs dumped and it also rides comfortable, except the back is bouncy because i was cheap and just bought front for it.

Both ride close to what they did stock.
