i was thinking of lowering my car, but i worked it all out and the cost is too much for my current monetary situation...i was talkin to a buddy of mine from a shop and he said to just cut the stock springs (99 civic hatch) hes done it before with other eks and he said that even if i spend a $1000 on aftermarket springs/coilovers/shox that itll still be bouncy, and that my best bet would be to cut em? i was thinkin of cutting them a coil and a half in the front and one coil in the back...has anyone done this or know anymore about this? im open to all suggestions

If you are trying to avoid bouncy, cutting your springs is the worst idea ever. Me and my friends used to do this to all the cars back in the day. We even tried heating the springs. If it's done right they might last you a year before something happens(blown shocks, or whatever). To tell you the truth the ride wasn't that bad but after a while it gets bouncy and gets fucking annoying. Mainly when you hit any kind of bump.

If money is an issue just get some coilovers first and keep the shocks stock until you can afford new ones. My skunks cost me $320, some people recommend ground control and others omni. They are all good brands. I've been on my coilovers and stock shocks for over 6 mos. and there isn't very much bounce. It also depends on if you will be installing them or if you will let a shop do it. If you are letting a shop do it just wait and save up cash to buy everything at once. This way you only get charged once for labor. If money is real tight just get some lowering springs then sell them when you get your new setup.

Have to agree with him. The ride will be bouncy as hell and the overall ride quality and handling will suck. Look around and you should be able to find some decent coilovers and shocks for about $500. Good luck.
