Lowering my car, a few questions
I am planning on lowering my car in the near future, so I am starting to research it a lot, and I have a few questions....
1.) what spring/shock combo would you recommend for good handling. but also not too harsh , so it is drivable on the streets.
2.) about how much do you have to lower a 1997 Civic EX coupe to eliminate the fender gap??
3.) How much do you have to lower a car before you need a camber kit. I have heard answers all over the place on this one, some people say you never need it, some say 2" and some say you always need them, please help me put this question to rest.
Thats it for now, im sure I will think of more tho.
Thanks!!

He said it best... if ur gonna go like 1.2-1.5 get prokits or something similar and pair it with tokiko 5ways or kyb agx's, if u want 2" get sportlines, etc and camber kits and pair it with koni yellows

I love the nuespeed race/ koni yellow setup, fully adjustable in every way and it will ride for you however you want to set it, but not as easy to adjust ride height as an expensive killer coilover setup would.

So if I were to lower it 1.75", it would pretty much get rid of fender gap, plus I wouldn't need a camber kit. B/c if this is true, then that is the best of both worlds for me.
Thanks for the help so far guys!!

Re: (Briman2021)
brian, I've got H&R sport springs ($155 shipped), which drop the car 1.75 up front and 1.5 in the rear. I'm running Tokico Blue shocks ($250 shipped). Nice smooth ride. $400 suspension setup right there, rides well, handles great.

Re: (Briman2021)
H&R Sports (1.75 rear/ 1.5 front) ~$140
KYB AGX Adjustables ~$320
Total: ~$460
Sorry, it's on a bit of a slant.
I can't wait for my 17s.

Uhh...camber kit will help the camber but he shouldn't have a problem with toe without it as long as he gets an alignment. Am I missing something here?

Correct, what I did was get an alignment and they set my toe straight and I had -1.5º Front and -2º Rear Camber. What I did is do the rear upper control arm washer mod to correct the camber. So now, I am basically I'm at -1.5º Front and -1º Rear Camber.
Factory Camber Spec is -1º all around. At -1.5º Front, I have not had one problem with tire wear because my TOE is set correctly. In fact, many race driven cars set their camber more negative than factory specs for better performance.

Re: (Eddie HatchBlack)
Edelbrock coilovers, lowered almost the full 2.5"
Eibach camber kit
Eibach front and rear sway bars
In that configuration, it was too low for a nice ride. Raised up about 1/2" and it rides great, and corners like a racecar!

Re: (jrfender1)
if your going to pay for a full alignment and not have a camber kit on when you do it then your just wasting your money, kill both birds with one stone. but the toe and the align go hand and hand, but i just like having a camber kit, both my hondas were lowered with not align or camber kits for years until recently, i was much happier once i got both.
