Lowered EK tire rubbing solutions?
What have you guys done to solve the problem of your tires rubbing when you've lowered your EK's? My fronts rub (16x7" 40mm offset, 205/45-16) at the very edge of the inner fender liner at the very top of the fender arch whenever I'm turning and hit a bump or put load on the suspension. Am I using the wrong offset? I'm not really lowered all that much I don't think?

No, I don't have a camber kit yet. I'm thinking it may be my offset. It's 40mm, but I'm thinking of having my wheels machined out for a few more mm of offset. Not sure how I'm going to correct this.

It IS your offset. I have the same 16" 40mm C8's with Kumho's. They rub. I hope you find a solution ... and then let me know

i have slipstreams 16" 40mm offset and I rubbed for a little bit....until I autoxed my car and rubbed off whatever I was rubbing, and I dont rub no more.
All it is is one of the plastic snap clips that hold the fender liner in place. Look for the middle one and remove it, bend the metal tab up, then but it back.
Problem is, we have to run a 40mm offset with a 7" wheel or you will rub on the INSIDE, which I do a little.

w/ a 40 offset, your tires are gonna rub against the fenders a little. just roll your fenders and everything will be cool.

Yea, i have this problem, and some people have told me to pick up a 5 mm spacer. Dont really know why that would fix it, cause i would think that would make it rub the fender even more, but...maybe my thinking is messed up as well. OH WELL...

It's the offset.
You need 42-45 to clear.
I have my 16's tucked in the front and they never rub (45 offset= closer to the inside).
Looks like you can drop it a little more in the back

Wait, are y'all rubbing just in the front??? And to think, I was all worried about the rear clearing!
Where exactly are people rubbing? Near the outside of the tire against the fender? Or the inside of the fender liner??

I got 2 friends both with EKs and running the Rota 15'' wheels. I'll check the offset, but I know for a fact on my 1992 hatch I never srub.
They scrub on the INSIDE of the fender well area when turned to lock, and it has rubbed off the undercoating down to bare metal.
If anything I'd say that their wheels should stick out more than Trey's wheels - 45 offset and 7'' wide, while they have a 42 perhaps with 6.5'' wide wheels.
Do you ever rub on the inside Trey?
One of the cars has 100% pefect alignment too, so it's not like crazy-*** toe is causing it.
the other gets aligned at our shop today, and it's only been scrubbing since yesterday when he lowered the front a little more.
I hope to see what others say about this...

Ah yes... the chassis I've been rubbing for a while. That I don't care too much about cuz that's all very low speed, parking lot stuff. I'm more worried about rubbing at high speeds under heavy side-loads.

That totally worked!!!
No more rubbing. Maybe now I'll even lower it a little bit more. I'm a happy camper!
Now why didn't I think of that

For the rears, I got away with just removing the rear fender liner. My tire does come within mm's of the fender but it wont rub. It didnt even rub at the autox

Re: Lowered EK tire rubbing solutions? (Halo)
When I had my car dupped it rubbed on the outer side as well. I simply removed the inner fender lining and bent that little hook/lip upward with my fingers and now it no longer rubs.
