Default lower ball joints

when i remove the lower ball joints not only to I completely destroy the boot, but when installed the nut that goes on it....it spins and will not allow me to tighten it....is there any way to remove the LBJ without destroying the boot? I know using a big hammer works but my LCA is looking rough do to that. any tips on any of this would be appreciated! thanx

you're not removing the ball joints you're just seperating the knuckle from the lca correct?
if that's the case....

see in this pic where the knuckle and the LCA come together almost at a point when the suspension is lowered. jack up the suspension place a square bar that just fits inbetween the two points and lower it back down. a 1/2" drive craftsman ratchet works perfect...
another method is a long *** pry bar, turn the wheel to one side, stick the pry bar in the same place and jump on the pry bar...

once it pops loose and puts pressure on the nut it should aid in keeping it still, if not you'll either need an impact or some way of keeping the top of the ball joint still...

After seeing the rachet trick in action, I can't even imagine why anybody would do it any other way. Too bad it doesn't work for Upper balljoint & tie rod balljoints. There is a $20 (shipped) tool on ebay (search for "tie rod lifter") that works flawlessly EVERY time for those other two...
