low rpm studder?
Okay I'm not sure if this is the forum to put it in but what the hell.
I have a 92 civic HB, I dropped a lsvtec into it and its been in there for about 2 years now, but as of just a month ago I am having a HUGE problem with a studder between 1k-4k rpm's, there is no pinging or anything, still idle smooth and only does it on occasion not every time. There is no major work done to it(head:type-r cams,pnp,shaved....block:stock tranny:GSR w/ drag clutch). At first I thought it maybe in need of plugs and wires, did that no affect. Then I thought maybe the fuel filter, still nothing. I have ask mechanics and all at a loss, wondering if anyone out there can help me out. If I haven't supplied enough info just ask and I will response asap.
thanks

Re: low rpm studder? (renzema)
mine does the same sh*t. only around about 2-3K rpm. just put new dist. cap and rotor, and new plug wires and still does it. this is crazy that no one knows what it is.

its when your pressure plate doent hold enough force aginst your clutch disc. due to a worn clutch disc or pressure plate
edit:im not sure if your flyweel can cause it too

my guess was timing, that was going to be the next step. I just want the "experts" opinion before I go have it done.
Also not the plug gap, already checked that.
thanks

after you check your timing...let us know what happens

Re: low rpm studder? (renzema)
well got the timing adjusted and still no affect, talked to a top performance shop in my town and they suggested that I install a hondata to program the ecu, but that is going to be a major buy and I would rather exhuast all other possiblity before doing this since I don't have a ton of money to through into a hondata then a dyno day.
thanks

Re: low rpm studder? (renzema)
its your o2 sensor, its either wired incorrectly or the sensor is bad.
under partial throttle your ecu looks for signal from the o2 sensor to adjust the fuel curve (closed loop), and when there is no signal your engine will run lean and stutter.
i am assuming this is only under partial sensor in low rpm's, and when under more than 20% throttle you engine revs fine (in the open loop).
i know hondata can disable closed loop.
hope this helps.
