Low Oil + VAFC = VTEC Work?

Hi,

You know how VTEC will not work if you're running a bit low on oil. I was wondering if your VTEC will work if you have low oil but have a VAFC?

Tell me.

Thanks

You told yourself buddy. Why does this matter anyways????

probably not, because your VTEC requires good oil pressure to operate.

I don't think it would work.....

I have to agree. I have never had good experiences with VTEC if my oil is low.

mines used to go on and off with low oil

Ca the V-AFC boost oil pressure? I'm not sure, but I don't think so. If there is low oil pressure, ir will not work. Simple as that.

A V-AFC has nothing to do with oil pressure. So no, it won't make a difference.

Keep your oil filled to the proper level. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emdgust.gif

I say it wont because even without a VAFC, VTEC still has an enage point, whats the difference if its lower or not.

Re: (blaster834)

why would you even want to do that, just change your damn oil when this problem occurs https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

vtec is not gonna work without enough oil.

Thanks captain obvious..

After 20 people reply with the same thing you just stated.

A few things, that make me kind of know where the original poster is coming from on this topic.

Normally your car has to warm up to engage VTEC, but not when you have a VAFC. The same goes for speed, but with the VAFC it will engage.

However:
I recently rebuilt my head. After putting it back on, I used some cheap ass oil that ended up burning off REALLY fast. In one week, oil was down past the dip stick. VTEC would come on and off after the point of engagement.

Re: Low Oil + VAFC = VTEC Work? (WAFFLES)

Yeah my point is i know VTEC will not work when there is low oil pressure and the car is cold... but with a VAFC it controls VTEC so i was just wondering if the VAFC would override the oil pressure parameter as well.

It's just a random question. Of course driving your car with fucking no oil is pretty stupid.

LudeyKrus 09-18-2004 07:26 AM

I thought the VAFC spliced into the oil sensor? Could that affect things?

I don't have the wiring diagram sitting in front of me.....

when i had my vafc i could crank it up and as soon as i did take it down the road and vtec would engage. that car temp neddle wouldn't have even moved yet. i know that my friends itr has tp warm up before it will engage and so did my old gsr.

see, honda programs safeguards into the ECU for people like you. nice job beating the shit out of your cold engine, im sure it shortened the life significantly https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

i hope you never get a turbocharged car, youll be boosting as soon as you get the key in the ignition. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif

no the vafc cannot boost oil pressure, if you are low on oil JUST ADD SOME DAMN OIL. running vtec on a low-oil engine could cause engine-damaging (even blowing) problems. oil is very important, dont be lazy.
