Default low idle problem

ok so for a couple of weeks now my car, a 97 civic ex coupe all stock, will after about 15 minutes of driving i come to a complete stop and it idles extremely low. so low that is seems like its about to shutt off. my questions is this i took off the IACV and saw that in the little screen filter on it it was covered in a gunky residue. i cleaned it off and put it back on. could this have likely been the cause of my problems? thanks for any and all advice.

Check your PCV valve as well. They're only a few bucks and can kill your gas mileage, and make it idle weird.

to be honest i didnt even think about the PCV valve. ill have to pick one up then, cuz its still has a low idle after having driven it all day today. any other suggestions? i was gonna check my vacuum lines to see and make sure all are still good. thanks guys.

Mine does the same thing except today it actually cut off.
My car generally idles at about 100 and no I dont mean 1000 I mean one hundred, but today it was dropping down and the needle was on the peg and cut off.
I replaced the pcv valve previously and have still been getting 38-40 males per gallon and when driving it runs like a champ.

Im stumped, I figure if it was a vaccume line it would run bad all the time or get bad mpg...
I recently had the timing belt/water pump done, dont know if that makes a difference but anyway

i also had an idle probelm and tried everything, turns out it was a bad tune. i switched to a different ecu and everything ran perfect. i was running hondata though so my situation is probably different.

try turning the idle screw counter clockwise until desired idle is reached do that after car is driving temp sometimes they are seized and require a slight bit of persuasion
