Default low fuel pressure...possible causes?

hey guys ive noticed my car(b16a2) being not as strong lately and yesterday when i finally installed a fuel pressure guage. the fuel pressure was at about 32ish idleing and 40 when reved up. i thought it was supposed to be about 40 psi at idle and 50 reving up. the fuel filters only about half a year old, and ive noticed ever since i had the car when the car is off and parked every so often ill hear the fuel pump like prime for like 2 seconds. any ideas?

When the key is off, and you turn it to the ON position (no cranking), it will prime for 2 seconds. If you're noticing a sound from the rear after the key is out and you are out of the car, it's probably extra fuel pressure escaping (mine does that every now and then).

Got an adjustable FPR? Maybe it's out of range. I set my B16 fuel pressure to about 38 at idle with vac on the FPR (adjustable).

Time for a walbro or equiv? Sounds like an FPR issue tho.

Your pressure seems fine. Also test the pressure with the FPR vacuum hose disconnected.

Start the engine. Measure the fuel pressure with the
engine idling and the vacuum hose of the fuel pressure
regulator disconnected from the fuel pressure
regulator and pinched.

Pressure should be:

B16A2 engine: 40 - 47 psi

Reconnect vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator.

Pressure should be:

B16A2 engine: 30 - 37 psi
