Low down on Headlights
Can someone tell me the difference between CTR headlights, SiR headlights and the JDM Black Housing Headlights?
If this is in the wrong thread sorry.

I dont get it.
However....The CTRs have a really nice looking black chrome finish. It looks awesome. They also have city lights
The EK4 lights i believe are the same except they dont have the city lights. There's some guy on here with an EK4 from argentina. Good close pic of headlights in his post.

Black housing i don't think came oem on any civics. I'm not positive though.
I know ctr headlights were a gunmetal ish color and came on jdm civics, and the rest of the world got regular chrome housings.
Not much difference otherwise.

iduno. they definitely dont look as good as CTR lights. This place called island motor sports has CTR replicas for $120. They look pretty good.
Instead of buying black housing lights, just paint your housings black. Put the lights in the oven at like 225 degrees ON A BLOCK OF WOOD....bake for about 15 mins and open em up. Buy some honda bond to put them back together.

Um, honda bond? Try Silicone sealant.

how close do the replicas look compared to oem? I have thought of buying the replicas, but was always woried they would suck or look stupid. On jdmland.com the oem headlights have a option of black chrome and smoked chrome, which looks better in peoples opinion, i have only seen the black chrome ones in photos

Re: Low down on Headlights (HondamanXxX)
Ebay headlights are usually hit or miss.
Honestly, if you want black housing, just heat them up in the oven and paint them yourself. It's hella easy.
There are a few write-ups in the faq's index at the top. Shouldn't take you 3-4 hours to do. And you'll still have OE quality and no leaks as long as you seal them with a thin bead of silicone.
96-98 headlights are especially easy to paint too.

98's are stuck with that funny looking fluted headlight.
I've never seen anything to get around it. Unless you get some tyc projectors.

Eh, Oem's can look good. better than those IMO. Stick with them, just get a cool lip or a nice grill to offest them.
The headlights actually look nice on a lowered car.

Re: Low down on Headlights (HondamanXxX)
Lol, My car is lowered, CTR grill and lip. Ill post pictures tomorrow. I love them due to the fact that my car is very dark. Thats what I like about these headlights. And with an HID Kit it would look good as well. Agree?

the projector unit in those i believe were designed to be used in conjunction with HID's.... the cut off should be a lot cleaner than an OEM style housing.

Re: (akunamatta)
Projectors in ebay projector lights are NOT designed for HID's. Some do better than halogen reflectors that's true. But it's still not good and still not legal/safe IMO.
I've had two plug and play kits, in projectors and without, it was the worst money spent on my car ever. I wish I had my ~$300 back
